Dear Reconciler Family,

Joy

We recently observed Independence Day and celebrated our freedom from tyranny and domination by another country or group of countries.

This freedom feels great!  However, we can celebrate another kind of freedom every day of every year, always and forever.  And there‘s no comparison to that freedom.  And that is our freedom in Christ, freedom to be who we are and who we were made to be.

I’m reminded of our granddaughter Jaden.  She’s almost three years old now.  And she LOVES LIFE!  She wakes up happy and ready to tackle another day!  She feels free and she loves people.

I realize that many of you experience these same qualities in your grands or great-grands.  Have fun!

Jesus also enjoyed and appreciated the attitudes and qualities of a little child. Matthew wrote, “Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them.  But the disciples rebuked them.  Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’  When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there” (Matthew 19:13-15).

Diversity

Just a few of these qualities of little children:

  • They are very trusting and seemingly fearless.
  • They don’t worry about a thing such as food, clothing, or shelter, or tomorrow, or even money.
  • They believe you/I can do anything!  To them we know everything, indicated by some of the questions they ask us.
  • They are very accepting of others regardless of ethnicity or color. And that is amazing because “they DO see color.”  Some of us adults say, “I don’t see color,” meaning it’s immaterial.  However, our granddaughter knows all the major colors and can pick them out.  But when it comes to people, the color differences don’t matter one bit.  All that matters to her is to have fun!

Bold/Trusting

I think what Jesus said about children, “of such is the kingdom of God,” should not be overlooked.

Thank you, God’s Children, for your kind support and your constant prayers.
