July 2016 Monthly Letter
Dear Reconciler Family,
Good News and Bad News!
As I sat down and began to mull over my message for the July ORM Letter I glanced at my computer screen and latest news items listed. There was good news and bad news.
The good news was: “Charleston Marks Anniversary of Church Shooting. Charleston is planning a service and other events for the anniversary of the June 17th massacre that killed nine people at Emmanuel African Methodist Church.”
The resilient people of Charleston have set a fine example following that great tragedy. One relative attended a white congregation to show solidarity and set a fine example of true Christianity and genuine faith; she showed that it is possible to help make the world a better place. The one lady who survived feels that she was spared to pray for the shooter, that his soul might be saved.
Then another headline popped up! It was an article on the mass murder of 49 people at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando, Florida. In addition to those who died, a number of others were wounded. May God help them and their families to heal from this great tragedy!
Now for the good news! God is on His Throne and Jesus is alive, with us and in us! So we rightfully pray, THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN, as we show the world how to live by setting the example. What a privilege it is to be God’s children, representing Him as we walk through this journey called life, without the fears and anxieties of those who have no hope.
And what a privilege it is to pray for them, that their hearts and minds would be opened to Jesus, and that they would accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
Notice how Jesus encouraged His disciples as He was about to give his life for them and all of mankind.
John 14:25-27: “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace be with you; my peace I give you. Peace I leave with you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Passages like this give us boundless hope and so much joy; they point us heavenward as we anticipate living with Jesus forever, days without end.
As the two ladies from the Charleston shooting are using that event to make a difference in a heartless world a year later, so can we as we follow Jesus.
Thank you all for your prayers and kind support of this Ministry. God bless you.
