March 2016 Monthly Letter

Dear Reconciler Family,

I begin this letter by passing on a response to our February 2016 letter from a dear friend and chaplain, Kathleen Hart. She wrote:

Thank you for your ORM letter. It has touched me deeply. From your sharing, I have learned about some of the things that have taken place in America in past years. I had never heard about some of the incidents that occurred or about the wonderful people who handled matters in such an amazing way.

I was so touched and impressed by the quote from Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. You also included quotes from others that are so impressive and deeply touching. I thank the Lord for calling you, and I thank you for serving him with your ORM ministry, and for sharing so many experiences from your 20 years of faithful, loving service. I have been touched by you and all of the others who have shared in your ORM letters. I thank all those involved in the ministry with loving and caring prayers.

Your forever friend,
Kathleen (who grew up in South Africa)

She asked me to tell my Staff and ORM Board Members that she loves how we work together in Christ. She really means it; I can attest to that.

We at ORM appreciate all of you and we enjoy hearing from you. Your loyalty, feedback and kind support help keep the wheels turning. It also helps build our morale as we seek to share the love of Jesus with a troubled and often broken, hateful world!

I believe one of the greatest forces in combating hate is to draw from the Word of God. The Apostle James wrote in Chapter 4:1, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?”

I also deeply appreciate the strong admonition of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthian Church in chapter 6:1-6. He stated, “And how dare you take each other to court! When you think you have been wronged, does it make any sense to go before a court that knows nothing of God’s ways instead of a family of Christians? The day is coming when the world is going to stand before a jury made up of Christians. If someday you’re going to rule on the world’s fate, wouldn’t it be a good idea to practice on some of these smaller cases? Why, you’re even going to judge angels! So why not these everyday affairs?” (The Message Bible)

Wow, think of the idea of you and I being trusted as children of God to judge angels! Think of the value and trust that our Heavenly Father places in us!

This is one of the reasons, among many others, to be reconciled to God and to each other. It is being the light of the world and salt of the earth. And in doing such, people glorify our Heavenly Father! To God be the glory! Thank you, reconcilers, for being examples to a world full of dis-harmony, and therefore, un-reconciled to God!
