June 2008 Subscriber Letter
Dear Reconciler Family,
I would like to share with you some wonderful news about the Ministry of Reconciliation and how God is blessing it! Here’s a report on it sent out by President Joseph Tkach in his Weekly Update:
Join me in extending double congratulations to Curtis May and all those who are serving in the Office of Reconciliation Ministries. ORM’s new DVD, “A Time to Reconcile,” won second place at the recent Telly Awards, and Curtis received a Community Partnership Award from the Pasadena Police Department.
The Tellys are an annual awards competition open to the entertainment industry for both broadcast and non-broadcast programming and are considered to be a prestigious award. They are sending a Bronze statuette, engraved with the name of the project on it, including names of those involved, along with a certificate. The statuettes are made by the same company that makes the Oscar and Emmy awards. “A Time to Reconcile” was entered in the Telly Awards competition in March by Pam Mosher of Parker Media.
Curtis May, Director of ORM, received the Community Partnership Award from the Pasadena Police Department at their 37th Annual Awards Banquet on May 8. The Mistress of Ceremonies, KTLA Television’s co-anchor Michaela Pereira, introduced Pastor Curtis May of the Worldwide Church of God to about 800 people attending the event. Some asked Curtis about the church and our new location, which gave him an opportunity to clarify some details about our new physical location and our doctrinal transformation. Curtis’ and Jannice’s son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Jeanine, along with Neil and Susan Earle, attended.
Acting Chief of Police Christopher O. Vicino,
Curtis May, and Vice-Mayor Steve Haderlein
In addition to the award Curtis received the following certificates:
Pasadena’s Mayor Bill Bogaard: Recognition for “strengthening bonds among all members of the community.”
California Congressman Adam Schiff: Special Congressional Recognition “of Understanding and Invaluable Service to the Community.”
California State Senator Jack Scott: “We truly commend your excellent dedication to the City of Pasadena.”
California State Assembly Member Anthony Portantino: “I am honored to recognize the ‘excellent’ example that you have provided for us all.”
LA County Supervisor Mike Antonovich: “In recognition of dedicated service to the affairs of the community and for the civic pride demonstrated by numerous contributions for the benefit of all citizens of Los Angeles County.”
A letter of congratulations from U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer of California.
Thank you very much, brethren, for allowing God to use you to further his message of oneness in a world of walls. Thank you for your prayers and support.
